The Department of Philosophy and World Religions at Rowan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of World Religions position beginning in Fall 2022.

Minimum Qualifications : Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Religion, Religious Studies, or related programs, a strong research and publication agenda, and a commitment to excellent teaching and active service.

Teaching responsibilities include introductory and upper-level courses within our current curricular bank, such as Judaism, Interreligious Dialogue (currently as Special Topic in Religion Studies), Ethics in and out of Religions, Religions of the West, Introduction to Bible, Religions in America, World Religions, and possible courses in the candidate’s specialized areas such as Jewish Ethics, Religion and Race, Conflict Solution and Religion, Memory and Forgetting in Religion and Politics, and Religion, Holocaust and Genocide. A successful candidate may demonstrate abilities to involve themselves with Rowan’s Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and American Studies Program. Duties also include fostering extracurricular student groups or club activities in religion studies. A 2/2 teaching load is guaranteed for the six years before tenure application. Opportunities for teaching courses in summer are available.

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Religion Studies by June 2022. The committee will begin reviewing applications by January 5, 2022, but will continue accepting applications until the position is filled.
