The School of Architecture and Planning at The Catholic University of America seeks to fill a tenure-track Professor of Architecture position in Urban Design to begin Fall Semester - August, 2022.

We seek candidates who understand, are enthusiastic about, and will make a significant contribution to the mission of the University, which reads as follows:

“As the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, founded and sponsored by the bishops of the country with the approval of the Holy See, The Catholic University of America is committed to being a comprehensive Catholic and American institution of higher learning, faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ as handed on by the Church. Dedicated to advancing the dialogue between faith and reason, The Catholic University of America seeks to discover and impart the truth through excellence in teaching and research, all in service to the Church, the nation and the world.”

The Catholic University’s School of Architecture and Planning invites applications and nominations for this position.  The School welcomes applications from architects and urban designers willing and able to engage in reasoned, serious, and open debate about how various aesthetic traditions can serve the common good in different places and cultures. The ideal candidate will take a long view of architecture and the human condition. That individual should seek to teach the art of building through the lens of Urban Design to help students understand, preserve, and carry forward the traditions of vernacular, classical, and contemporary architecture in the service of building communities.
