Assistant Professor of Musicology

The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Musicology.

Job Summary 
The School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi seeks an engaged teacher and active scholar to offer a broad array of courses in the Western musical tradition and to engage in service to the school, particularly in the realms of undergraduate teaching and graduate research advising. The area of specialization is open, but experience in historical performance practices, world musics, or music after 1945 is particularly welcome. The School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi serves students of varied socio-economic backgrounds as well as a vibrant population of international students. The successful candidate must appreciate and engage this diversity.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A completed Ph.D. in Musicology at the time of application. ABDs will be considered with completion of degree by position start date required for a tenure-track appointment.
  •  University teaching experience as an instructor-of-record
  •  Evidence of professional activity/publishing in the field of musicology
  •  Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or to have an approved legal exemption and/or accommodation on file with Human Resources prior to your anticipated start date.
