Position: The Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Florida State University (FSU) is seeking a neurophysiologist to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants are expected to develop an extramurally funded research program that will strengthen and enhance our current musculoskeletal research within the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology and to develop interdisciplinary collaborations with Biomedical Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences Neuroscience Program. The salary and startup package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in neuroscience, biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, or a related discipline and have significant postdoctoral training. This position will focus on biomechanics and rehabilitative neuroscience - specifically on how muscles and the brain work together to improve impairments such as Parkinson's, stroke, and/or degenerative diseases related to movement disorders. Specific targeted techniques would include functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diffusion imaging, electroencephalography, and electromyography. Applicants must demonstrate a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and evidence of extramural support for research activities.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be expected to: (1) develop/maintain a nationally and internationally recognized extramurally funded research program, and (2) contribute to the Department’s teaching and service efforts at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the candidate’s area of expertise. Additionally, the applicant is expected to recruit and mentor graduate students.

The Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology is the 6th largest department at FSU with 1,250 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The department offers undergraduate majors in Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science, Exercise Physiology, and Athletic Training. The department offers graduate degrees at the master’s level in Sports Nutrition, Nutrition and Food Science, Exercise Physiology, and Sports Sciences. The department also offers graduate degrees at the doctoral level in Nutrition and Food Science and Exercise Physiology. The faculty in the department have research interests broadly related to the areas of nutrition, stress, obesity, cardiovascular/skeletal muscle physiology, aging, and cancer.  The College of Medicine at FSU has a state-of-the-art MRI facility that is dedicated to cutting-edge multidisciplinary research (https://mri.fsu.edu/). FSU holds the Carnegie Research University designation as an R1 research institution and has been officially designated as a preeminent research university by the Florida Legislature because of having met a set of rigorous benchmarks.
