Adjunct Assistant Professor / Part-time hourly-paid Lecturer

Applications are invited for appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor / Part-time hourly-paid Lecturer in the Department of Architecture (several posts) (Ref. 509121), to commence in January 2022 for one semester/academic year, with the possibility of renewal.

The Department of Architecture is internationally recognised as one of the world's best architectural schools. Design thinking is at the core of its values and the Department prides itself on providing an active and dynamic research environment. The scholars and professionals who constitute the teaching staff of the Department represent a diversity of research interests. The scale and breadth of case studies in the region offers a potential portfolio of exciting research projects and a laboratory structure offers opportunities to pool efforts, cross disciplinary boundaries and develop forums for exchange. The Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an intense and demanding environment where staff members take an active part in shaping the Department's culture through both teaching and administrative responsibilities. Applicants should possess a professional degree in Architecture. They should have a demonstrated track record of international collaboration and overall teaching excellence showing continuous refinement in teaching capacity from its planning to implementation and evaluation. They should maintain a highly critical form of practice that contributes to discourse and debate and engages in the various complexities that shape the discipline of architecture in Hong Kong. Preference will be given to those with an advanced degree in Architecture or additional experience in related fields. Applicants must have a valid permit to work in Hong Kong.

The appointees should be able to conduct teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for one of the following courses: architectural design studio, an advanced seminar in history or in urbanism. They should also be able to contribute to the Department’s academic affairs including teaching, learning, and service, and help to strengthen the University’s international ties with other leading institutions.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
