The Department of Engineering at John Brown University (https://www.jbu.edu/engineering) seeks a full-time faculty member with a strong commitment to teaching and the integration of Christian faith to begin by July 1, 2022. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching courses in several areas of mechanical engineering at the undergraduate level (e.g., thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design). Additional opportunities to design/develop coursework in one’s area of expertise or specialization for the technical electives in the department. Other responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring students, recruiting for the major, and service on university committees.

Program

JBU offers an ABET-accredited engineering program with Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) and Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) majors. The department also houses minors such as Biomedical Engineering, Renewable Energy, and Robotics. The program strives to educate students and practitioners in ethical and technical needs for this important career path while representing God in service to His kingdom.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • A commitment to teaching undergraduate courses
  • A commitment to the integration of the Christian faith and teaching
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students
  • Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Evidence of scholarly potential
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students and/or industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse populations

Salary

A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience. In addition, JBU offers a comprehensive benefits package including 403(b) retirement plan, medical and dental insurance, tuition remission, leave related to the birth of a child, adoption leave, and moving expenses.
