The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Management, with an anticipated start date of August 29, 2022. This will be a full-time, ongoing appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities of the position would include developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses/programs in Sport Management, Sport Marketing, Sport Finance, Sport Analytics, Sport Communications, Event Management, or a related area.  Secondary interest in Outdoor Industry Management would also be valued. Involvement with the sport industry and knowledge of the industry is core to this position.

New faculty must establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise.  The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to make a strong commitment to the development of innovative curricula, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success. The position will offer a competitive salary, research support, and a teaching load commensurate with similar-sized research universities.

The candidate will be expected to participate in service to the School, University, and Community.

Applicants must present evidence of successful teaching, a terminal degree in sport management or a related field by the state date of employment, and a demonstrated ability to engage in quality research.  Professional certifications, college-level teaching, and relevant professional experience are a plus. Candidates demonstrating excellent communication/interpersonal skills and providing evidence of a collaborative working style are preferred. Previous teaching and/or industry experience in sport management is an asset.
