Assistant/Associate Professor in Sculpture and Integrated Practices (71102)

Location: Brooklyn, NY

The Fine Arts Department in the School of Art at Pratt Institute invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Sculpture and Integrated Practices, to commence Fall 2022. The department seeks candidates with demonstrated critical and technical knowledge of both material-based and digital making processes in sculpture with an emphasis on contemporary art practices. The candidate's work should engage two or more of the following: contemporary sculpture, sculptural installation, integrated practices, hybrid practices, public sculpture, and/or social practice. The candidate should be able to demonstrate significant experience and achievement as a professional artist exhibiting nationally and internationally, have a minimum of three years' teaching experience at the college level, and hold an MFA or equivalent.

The successful candidate will teach studio and technical classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels in addition to electives in their speciality, conduct critiques, provide service to the Department—including committee work and curriculum development—, play an engaged role in the life of the Institute, and maintain an active studio and/or professional practice. The successful candidate will also have leadership abilities and the collaborative skills to work alongside colleagues in strengthening the Sculpture and Integrated Practices area of the department.

Fine Arts undergraduate areas of emphasis are Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Integrated Practices, Printmaking, and Jewelry. In addition, the Fine Arts Department offers a minor in Ceramics. The MFA in Fine Arts is an interdisciplinary graduate program, currently located 1.5 miles from Pratt's Brooklyn campus in the Pfizer Building on Flushing Avenue, offering areas of emphasis in Painting/Drawing, Sculpture, Integrated Practices, and Printmaking.
