Quinnipiac University's School of Communications seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor for the program director for the M.S. in Interactive Media and Communications, who will contribute to the diversity of our academic community. This position will begin in August 2022.

About the program:

The Department of Interactive Media and Design offers B.A. degrees in Graphic and Interactive Design and an M.S. in Interactive Media and Communications. The MS in Interactive Media and Communications prepares students to produce and manage a range of content and to become a strong creative thinker and a leaders in interactive media and storytelling. The program provides deep exploration into all aspects of media, including web design and production; social media strategy, practice, and analytics; digital audio and video; and UX/UI research and design. The Interactive Media and Communications program serves 3+1 and 4+1 students, as well as professionals who want to improve their skills and the knowledge of the industry.

About the school:

We balance hands-on skills training with instruction in the liberal arts to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers in advertising and integrated communications; communications/media studies; film, television and media arts; graphic and interactive design; journalism; and public relations. We maintain a portfolio of more than 5,000 local, regional, national and international employers to connect with, and our student media organizations provide multiple opportunities for real-world learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with faculty in the development of the program, curriculum content and pedagogy to ensure the quality of the course design and student experience
  • Teaching graduate level courses in the area of social media, content creation, content management, and other areas of Interactive Media (5 per year)
  • Developing and managing program evaluation process that assesses student learning outcomes consistent with program goals
  • Collaborating with admission offices on marketing strategies
  • Reviewing all files from Admissions in accepting students in consultation with the departmental admissions committee
  • Serving as liaison with the School of Communications Graduate Committee, admissions offices, and the Dean's office in the recruitment, admission, communication, advising and policies pertaining to graduate students
  • Planning, facilitating, and attending orientation and recruitment activities for new and prospective students, including fielding questions from prospective applicants
  • Working with department faculty and the department chair in graduate course scheduling
  • Acting as an advisor and a point of contact for currently enrolled students, e.g., providing information and policies to these students, helping outline successful plans of studies, etc
  • Recruiting and scheduling adjunct faculty for graduate courses in consultation with the department chair
  • Planning, facilitating and attending special events for the program
  • Approving and overseeing graduate internships

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.F.A. (terminal degree required)
  • University level teaching experience of interactive communication courses is required. Additional experience in delivering hybrid and online courses preferred
  • Social Media industry experience preferred
  • Experience with graduate programs and in recruiting and retaining graduate students, and student advising
  • Experience in graduate curriculum development
  • Experience in developing a recruiting/marketing plan and marketing materials in an academic setting
  • Experience with scheduling and long term program planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community is expected
