Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. This position serves as the primary support person for the vice president, and manages the administrative aspects of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

The assistant is the primary contact for the DEI office including foot traffic, phone calls, and general e-mails. They manage electronic and print communications for the office such as letters, flyers, and mailings, and they maintain the office’s web page and social media accounts. This position helps with the organization and implementation of orientation and semester programming for new and returning students, as well as special events for students and the campus community. The assistant also maintains budget records, keeps meeting minutes, and handles equipment and supply needs for the office. Additionally, the assistant supervises 3-4 student employees during the academic year.

The successful applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of three years of related experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and multifunction devices, skills to use and manage professional social media platforms, and a deep understanding of and commitment to working in and fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as excellent organizational, time management, multitasking, detail, and accuracy skills. Candidates must have abilities to work in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions and to work independently and as a team member. Other abilities needed include being able to prioritize multiple responsibilities, resolve problems, adjust to change, and manage confidential and sensitive information. Applicants must have the ability and willingness to work early, late, and/or on weekends during special events.

Preferred candidates will have two years of college, previous experience in an administrative support role in higher education, previous experience working in or managing a professional office setting, database experience, Ellucian Banner experience, and knowledge of and experience with Hollins University.
