Position Summary:
The SSRM Project Manager is primarily responsible for managing remote teams of graduate and undergraduate student research assistants who are responsible for researching and writing content and building modules for this online educational resource . This individual works closely with the project principals as well as student employees to develop and institute project objectives, monitor progress, and support the work and student, faculty and staff team members involved in this project. This individual will also serve as a key point of connection between the SSRM and aligned MiddData educational initiatives.
The Social Sciences Research Modules (SSRM) project is a grant-funded initiative developing on-demand, asynchronous, self-study opportunities for the entire Middlebury community, as well as others with an interest in topics the modules cover. This is temporary, part-time position for 12-months with the possibility of renewal.

Essential Functions:
Working closely with the project principals (faculty and administrators from the undergraduate college and Middlebury Institute), the SSRM Project Manager will be involved in important aspects of module creation, development, testing, and maintenance. Specific tasks include:
● Establish and implement training processes and strategies, including orientation for new research assistants
● Work with faculty in maintaining staffing of research assistant teams for specific projects
● Collaboratively determine and define project scope and objectives
● Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
● Analyze, plan, and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects
● Assign and oversee weekly tasks while ensuring all team members are actively working toward established milestones
● Hold regular - online - team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
● Provide regular project updates to project principals about strategy, personnel, adjustments, and progress
● Create visual and print materials for internal and external audiences
● Participate in project presentations to internal and external audiences
● Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for team members required for specific projects or initiatives
● Update and maintain all production technologies ensuring proper maintenance and installation
● Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed
● Work with faculty at Middlebury campuses to engage in pilot testing of educational modules
● Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement

Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s (or substantial progress toward completing a Master’s degree) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Effective interpersonal skills required
● Well-developed written and oral communication required
● Experienced WordPress user preferred
● Experience in education, pedagogy, instructional design, social science research methods, or some combination thereof.
● Facility with online work productivity and presentation tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs and sheets, Slack, Hypothesis, Panopto
● Ability to work remotely, independently and collaboratively, and manage remote teams

Experience:
Ideally, the candidate will have experience in project management. Experience in leading a team in designing and creating web-based instructional tools is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands:
Ability to work online or, if the situation allows, in-person with colleagues for extended periods of time.
