JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Division of Science and Engineering at Penn State University Abington College seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor or Lecturer, to start January 2022, or as negotiated, in any of the following fields: Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, and Data Sciences. This is a full time, 36-week, non tenure line, limited term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent periods. These positions will be filled as either a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor. To be considered for the rank of Lecturer, candidates must have either a Masters degree. To be considered for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, candidates must have a Ph.D. The disciplines of the degree for each level should be in either Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or Data Science. Candidates should also have at least three years of experience in industry or teaching.A successful candidate will be expected to 1) teach twelve (12) contact hours per semester; 2) advise a variety of majors related to their discipline; and 3) provide service to the Division and College.

Below are additional desired qualifications by discipline.Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach courses across programs as well as candidates with experience teaching students from diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.Candidates coming from historically underrepresented groups in STEM fields are highly encouraged to apply.

Information Technology: experience teaching in three or more of the following subjects: organizational strategies and enterprise architecture, business processes and technology decisions, organizational design, information processing and information flow, cyber analytics, cyber defense, cyber forensics, security risk analysis, databases, networking, programming, web management, and project management; and industry experience.

Cybersecurity: candidates should hold a doctoral or Master's degree with specialization in Cybersecurity, Information security or a related discipline.Prior teaching experience and/or professional cybersecurity certification such as CISM, CISSP, or CISA is preferred.Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to teach one or more of the following courses: cyber-defense studio, cybersecurity analytics studio, malware analytics, cyber incident handling and response, security and risk analysis, decision theory and analysis, statistics for security and risk analysis and integration of privacy and security.

Computer Science: experience teaching in three or more of the following subjects: principles of programming languages, formal languages with applications, computer organization and architecture, communications networks, computer graphics, applications programming and object-oriented programming with web-based applications.

Data Science: experience teaching three or more of the following subjects: data privacy and security, machine learning, visual analytics, data integration, applied data sciences, probability and statistics, programming for big data, artificial intelligence, and database modeling.
