The Department of Medicine, University of Washington (UW) is
recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of
Gastroenterology based at University of Washington Medical Center.
This position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with
experience. This position has an annual service period of 12 months
(July 1 – June 30). University of Washington faculty engage in
teaching, research and service. Anticipated start date will
be July 1, 2022.
The successful candidate for this position will have the
opportunity to be involved in clinical, basic or translational
research in bioinformatics in transplant hepatology and is expected
to secure extramural funding in these areas. The successful
candidate will participate in clinical care of
gastroenterology patients, including providing inpatient and
outpatient hepatology consultative services and endoscopy services
and will be expected to identify patient needs and to provide
the care needed to promote improvement. Teaching responsibilities
would involve oversight of medical students, residents, and fellows
during outpatient and inpatient clinical activities, in concert
with the GI and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship program.
Clinically, the successful applicant will be expected to
provide care to the level of age specific diseases and the
range of disease severity and identify patient needs and to
provide care needed to promote improvement.
It is expected the candidate will have demonstrated expertise in
the management of Gastroenterology diseases and disorders. The
successful applicant will be expected have at least 5 years of
experience providing moderate sedation for endoscopic procedures.
In addition, it is expected the
candidate will demonstrate a track record of published
•Board Certification in Gastroenterology (or foreign
•Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent)
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B
visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show
successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical
Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary
of Health and Human Services.
