Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Professional Development develops, coordinates and implements professional development workshops, courses and initiatives for faculty and staff through the Center for Organization and Teaching Excellence (COTE) at Lone Star College – Tomball. This position also coordinates professional development requirements for the Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS) Title V Grant through the Center for Leadership and Student Success (CLASS).

This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees the development and support of faculty and staff training programs and events through independent research, planning and management of resources
  2. Sets evaluation factors and evaluates success of professional development training for faculty and staff
  3. Delivers or coordinates delivery of professional development workshops and courses
  4. Coordinates the development of marketing tools to promote professional development initiatives, workshops, and courses
  5. Designs and maintains tracking methods for all professional development offered, and creates reporting consistent with internal and external requirements
  6. Assists with management of the department budget
  7. Provides project management and committee oversight for professional development programs and events
  8. Researches and maintains updated knowledge of methods, standards and resources for teaching, professional development and instructional technology
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience facilitating or leading programs in a higher education or non-profit environment
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development training, including curriculum and program development
Salary

Hiring salary range is $43,070-$49,531

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
