Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics diabetes research laboratory is seeking a Research Analyst to support maintenance of databases, prepare manuscripts, maintain protocols, and other work. Ideal for a person seeking a part-time position or a person already in a part-time position wishing to increase work hours.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:
- Experience with database software and/or with maintaining a research database.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience:
- Experience with developing and maintaining protocols required by the UW Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB) within ARROW system.
- Experience with developing and maintaining protocols required by the UW Research Animal Resource Center and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
- Experience with systems for submitting scientific manuscripts for publication.
- Experience with preparation of National Institutes of Health grant application.
- Experience with Illustrator and other graphics software for representational drawings and slides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Effective communication and organizational skills.
2. Ability to make decisions based on non-routine situations.
3. Ability to develop and manage tasks independently.
4. Excellent word processing, typing skills, and ability to use web-based search engines.
5. General familiarity with biochemistry terminology (root words, prefixes and suffixes).
