Job Summary:

The Department of Afro-American Studies is seeking a colleague with specialization in the area of Black Visual Culture.

Responsibilities:

This Assistant Professor position will be responsible for teaching introductory survey courses and advanced courses; courses will include introductory Black American art courses, courses on the Black Arts Movement, and Black aesthetics. The selected person will also conduct scholarly research and perform University and community service as appropriate.

Education:

Required
PhD in Rhetoric or similar with a specialization in literary studies and Black Visual Culture by the start of the appointment.

Qualifications:

Must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and scholarly research.
