Job Summary:

Serve as a Teaching Specialist in the Department of Chemistry for one or more of the following courses. The number of sections required for a 50% appointment is listed behind each course:

Chem 103, General Chemistry I (Two sections)
Chem 104, General Chemistry II (Two sections)
Chem 108, Chemistry In Our World (Two sections)
Chem 116, Chemical Principles II (One section)
Chem 311, Inorganic Chemistry (Two sections)
Chem 327, Analytical Chemistry (One section)
Chem 329, Analytical Chemistry (One section)
Chem 343, Organic Chemistry (Four sections)
Chem 344, Organic Chemistry (One section and grading)
Chem 345, Organic Chemistry (Four sections)
Chem 346, Organic Chemistry (One section)
Chem 524, Chemical Instrumentation (Three sections)
Chem 561, Physical Chemistry (Three sections, discussion only)
Chem 562, Physical Chemistry (Three sections, discussion only)
Chem 563, Physical Chemistry Laboratory (Two sections)
Chem 564, Physical Chemistry Laboratory (Two sections)
Chem 565, Biophysical Chemistry (Two sections)
Chem 628, Chemical Instrumentation (Three sections)

One 50% appointment equals approximately 20 hours per week for the entire semester. Duties are similar to those of a teaching assistant and include the following:
-Teach lab and discussion sections
-Attend staff meetings
-Hold office hours
-Preparation time
-Proctor exams
-Grade assignments and exams

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of B.S. in chemistry or related field

Qualifications:

College-level physical chemistry course required.
