Job Summary :

The Associate Director for Transfer Admission develops and implements an effective transfer student recruitment plan that meets the strategic enrollment goals of the university.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Spearheads the recruitment and enrollment of traditional transfer students, (through state-wide transfer programs, community college pathway programs, and articulation agreements) and non-traditional transfer students, including RN to BSN students, by developing and implementing an effective transfer student recruitment and marketing plan that meets the strategic enrollment goals of the university.
  • Serves on the management team of the Office of Admissions, providing leadership both internally and externally, supervising professional staff as assigned, and collaborating with the other members of the management team to ensure that the activities, policies, and procedures of the office support the department goals set by the Director and the overall recruitment and enrollment goals of the university.
  • Identifies new opportunities for competitive academic plans (e.g. 2+2 agreements, degree completion programs, guaranteed admission programs, etc.).
  • Oversees the planning and execution of on-campus transfer-student-specific recruitment events such as open houses, information sessions, campus tours, transfer counselor visits, and accepted student receptions. Analyzes the effectiveness of recruitment events to ensure that they both support the recruitment and enrollment goals of the university and are an effective and efficient use of financial resources.
  • Travels to MD state community colleges, representing the university at transfer fairs and hosting transfer information sessions including “decision” days at the feeder community colleges.
  • Builds strategic partnerships with transfer counselors and other staff as appropriate at MD state community colleges, focusing first on target feeder schools and expanding, as resources allow, statewide.
  • Represents Coppin State University externally at USM meetings and conferences related to transfer admissions and enrollment services.
  • Oversees the review of all transfer applications, ensuring that decisions are made efficiently and in a timely manner, are in-line with the Commonwealth’s and the department’s admissions standards, and support the enrollment goals of the University. Train staff and provide regular updates regarding matters pertaining to transfer admission.
  • Ensure that tentative credit evaluations are completed for all admitted transfer students at the time of admission.
  • Serves as the admissions liaison for veteran students, developing and implementing strategies to recruit veteran applicants.
  • Works collaboratively with university enrollment, academic advising, and student development offices to facilitate a seamless enrollment process for new transfer students.
  • Manages the communication plan for prospective, admitted, and deposited transfer students. Ensures that the plan is implemented efficiently and effectively, that the messaging is accurate, up-to-date, and supports the enrollment goals of the University, and that the university website is accurate, up-to-date, and supports the transfer student enrollment goals of the university.
  • Manages the office in the absence of the Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive admissions/recruitment experience. Experience recruiting transfer student populations highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience. Prior experience managing full-time staff highly preferred.
  • Strong teambuilding, interpersonal and writing communications, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and implementing recruitment and yield strategies.
  • Proven ability to meet performance goals.
  • Ability to manage complex processes and concurrent projects
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and creativity.
  • Self-directed, works well independently and in a group capacity to achieve goals.
  • Ability to create, analyze, and present statistical data.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and some weekends, valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Proven commitment to a service-friendly environment.
