Presidential Search

Interim Chancellor Steven R. Gonzales, The Board of Trustees of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD), and the Presidential Search Committee invite inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of president of Mesa Community College (MCC).

MCC, the largest of the ten colleges in the District, seeks in its next president a seasoned leader who will build upon the College's academic program, aligning it with the current needs of higher education's changing landscape, and further advance the College's dedication to student success while growing student enrollment, continuing the College's commitment to diversity efforts, and enhancing community engagement. The president will join MCC at a pivotal moment in its history and partner with a devoted administration, faculty, and staff to continue to implement the College's current Strategic Plan 2020-2025 and facilitate institutional change by supporting innovation and risk-taking. The next president will also need to be a systems thinker who demonstrates appreciation for the complexity and diversity of the District and will approach systems issues not with an "either-or" mindset that chooses between MCC and the other nine colleges but rather will advocate for MCC through the lens of the larger MCCCD mission for student success and service to underserved populations.

Mesa Community College began as a small junior college with outstanding faculty and staff, strengthened by tremendous community support. The College has transitioned into an institution that reflects sustained high quality and a desire to respond to community needs, with a focus on student success. It has been more than 50 years since MCC first opened with three buildings and two houses on ¾ of an acre surrounded by the expanse of undeveloped Mesa, Arizona. Today, MCC has two campuses, the Southern and Dobson Campus and the Red Mountain Campus, as well as the Mesa Downtown Center and MCC Online.

MCC is being assisted by Academic Search. Prospective candidates may arrange a confidential discussion by contacting Dr. Shirley Robinson Pippins at Shirley.Pippins@academicsearch.org or Andrea Cowsert at Andrea.Cowsert@academicsearch.org. Applications and nominations should be submitted electronically to MCCPresident@academicsearch.org.
