Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition (Professional Writing)


The Department of English in the School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition and area of emphasis in professional and technical writing, to begin in August 2018.


Faculty members are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to college-level teaching excellence, have an active research agenda, work well with fellow faculty in various disciplines in shaping the direction of the Composition Program, participate in student advising, and make contributions to the broader community. In addition to expertise in professional and technical writing, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience and success in first-year writing courses, grant-writing, service-learning, and/or writing program administration.


Teaching duties include first-year writing, professional and technical writing, and other contributions to our Professional and Creative Writing major, with a normal teaching load of four courses per semester. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or a closely related field in hand by August 2018.
