    Department Summary

    The School of Social Work is an award-winning department offering first-rate, state-of-the-art classroom instruction, a wide variety of fieldwork experiences, exciting research, as well as community-based professional activities.

    Job Summary

    Under the general supervision of the Director of the School of Social Work, the incumbent will be responsible for providing a wide range of clerical and administrative support. This will include various administrative, clerical, and general office support functions. These include supporting the SW Graduate Program Coordinator with tracking and maintaining student online applications, coordinating and assisting with the resolution of admissions-related problems. The incumbent will also track students once they've been admitted into the program, and assist with any university or program-specific paperwork needed to maintain active status in the program and progress towards degree completion. Other duties include providing direction to student assistants, assisting with the preparation of outreach/marketing material, flyers, and other informational material.

    Employment Status: This position is full-time, non-exempt, probationary (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

    Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.
  • Summer hours Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Key Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of applicable university infrastructure and policies and procedures is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced organization with competing priorities and distractions.
  • Ability to plan and organize work schedule and work independently as well as in a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling confidential records.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment and technology including, but not limited to, desktop computer, laptop, copier, fax machine, scanner, and printer.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and ability to effectively use common computer and technology programs and related computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, etc.) in the course of assigned duties.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or its equivalent AND two years of experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of various campus databases such as PeopleSoft, Concur, PageUp, and Cherwell.
  • Experience working in higher education.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $2,912 - $3,200/month

Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $4,592/month
