Description

The Department of Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology in the Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Professional Mental Health Counseling: Specialization in Addictions program, beginning September 2022. The Department of Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology is grounded in a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

The Professional Mental Health Counseling: Specialization in Addictions program offers graduate-level counselor training reflective of a research and evidence-based integrated model for understanding and treating mental health disorders, co-occurring disorders, and addictions. The program also has coursework specific to working with problem gambling and other process addictions.

We are committed to an approach that integrates a deep concern for equity and social justice throughout our curriculum and supervised training model. We are looking for a colleague with the requisite knowledge and expertise in both mental health and addiction counseling who shares our vision and commitment to these principles.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses in core CACREP areas of clinical mental health counseling, including courses relevant to the specialization in addictions, and integrating social justice principles.
  • Advance an active program of research and sustained scholarly agenda.
  • Provide supervision for practicum and internship counselors in training at the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center and other community-based placement sites.
  • Collaborate on curriculum, program development, and program administrative duties.
  • Serve on various departmental and school-wide committees.
  • Participate in program assessment and accreditation activities.

 

Qualifications
  • Must have earned doctoral degree in counselor education. A doctorate in a related field with a history of employment as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013 may also be considered.
  • Oregon-licensed LPC or license eligible.
  • Addiction counseling certification or eligibility preferred.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching and supervision experience at the graduate level.
  • Experience teaching from an equity-based/social justice perspective.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health and addiction counseling from a community-based social justice perspective.
  • Experience with CACREP graduate counselor training and supervision, as well as accreditation processes, preferred.
