The Office of Advancement has achieved significant fundraising success in the past five years and has surpassed several fundraising records and alumni engagement goals. Reporting directly to the Director, Advancement Engagement, and in close collaboration with the Associate Vice President, Advancement Engagement and Alumni Relations and Advancement leadership, the Associate Director is responsible for developing, marketing, implementing, and evaluating events, outreach, and programs designed to engage Suffolks Law alumni across their entire life cycle and build a culture of philanthropy across the University community.
Suffolk Universitys Advancement Engagement programs are critical to advancing the Universitys mission. Our Alumni Relations programs serve to engage and inform our current and future alumni, involve them as volunteers in meaningful ways, strengthen their pride in and attachment to Suffolk while building a culture of philanthropy. The Annual Giving program develops and implements comprehensive fundraising strategies for the engagement, acquisition, stewardship, retention and upgrading of donations from alumni, family, friends, corporations and foundations. In addition to generating flexible revenue they identify major and planned giving prospects, help maintain address and data integrity and convey important institutional messages. Job Description
Assist with the development of a comprehensive, diverse and inclusive program to engage Suffolk Law alumni in meaningful ways and promote philanthropic support of Suffolk Law School. Research, develop, plan, implement, and evaluate a broad range of alumni engagement and annual giving programming including events, outreach, volunteer management and programs related to the Law alumni population. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to planning, promoting, and implementing reunion events, Suffolk Weekend (alumni/family weekend), signature development and recognition events as well as diversity and regional program development.
Volunteer Management
-
Serve as the alumni staff liaison
and ex-officio member for the Law Alumni Association Board of
Directors and other Law related volunteer alumni groups.
Serve as the alumni staff liaison to
one or more University alumni affinity groups including but not
limited to the Suffolk University Black Alumni Network, the Women
in Leadership Alumnae Network, the PRIDE LGBTQ+ Alumni Network
and/or the Veterans Alumni Network.
Helping to expand our Law alumni
engagement and annual giving efforts through building networks in
strategic domestic locations.
Partner with the leaders of the
volunteer organizations to develop fiscal year goals that align
with Suffolks strategic priorities, advise and assist the groups
with meeting structure/agenda and follow through.
Guide and assist with the
identification and recruitment of diverse and inclusive board
membership.
Create volunteer engagement
opportunities through partnerships with the Law Deans Offices, Law
Dean of Students, Admissions, Career Development, Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion, academic departments and other campus partners.
Fundraising

Collaborate closely with Advancement
colleagues in increasing support from law alumni; assist in
identifying alumni prospects for gifts; communicate Advancement
related activities via written contact reports filed in Raisers
Edge.
Collaborate with Annual Giving team
to leverage alumni volunteers for print and digital
solicitations.
Assist the Director of Advancement
Engagement with the development and implementation of revenue
driven Affinity programs.
Program Development, Events, Communications and Outreach

Plan, promote and implement a
variety of alumni programs and events to support the Universitys
Strategic Plan and increase alumni engagement and financial
support.
Ensure all events are consistently
executed with the highest level of quality, are cost-effective and
overall support the University's mission and strategic goals.
Maintain positive working
relationships with internal and external constituents to ensure
effective execution of events.
Establish and build relationships
with a wide range of Law alumni, locally, regionally and
nationally; maintain regular communication with Law alumni via
direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, and print
publications.
Serve as a liaison with campus
partners such as Law Deans Office, Dean of Students Office, Career
Development, Admissions, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Propose and develop new methods of
engagement through events and outreach programs.
Act as an ambassador at events.
Develop alumni affinity programs
based on area of study, interest and/or industry.
Design and implement efforts, both
electronic and print based, to publicize events and promote overall
event attendance.
Prepare relevant event briefing
documents and supporting materials for Suffolk and Advancement
leadership.
Operations

Assist in data integrity efforts to
ensure accurate and complete alumni database records.
Perform additional duties as
assigned and assist with special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required.
3-5 years of alumni relations, event
management and advancement experience preferably in a higher
education setting.
Sense of urgency and enthusiastic
commitment to Suffolk Universitys Advancement priorities
Experience working with and managing
volunteers and possess an understanding of volunteer management
best practices.
Demonstrated experience working with
diverse populations and a strong commitment to help developing and
implementing the Universitys Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
policies and goals.
Highly professional and ethical
standards for handling confidential information.
Demonstrated success with developing
and sustaining relationships with donors and volunteers.
Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and an emotional intelligence enabling the
candidate to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues
throughout the University, alumni, other constituents and the
public.
Demonstrably strong formal writing,
planning, marketing, and organizational skills.
Ability to organize and complete
multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and
prioritization to meet deadlines.
Experience with Raisers Edge NXT, or
a similar constituent database, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel and work evenings
and weekends as needed.
Perform additional duties as
assigned and assist with special projects as assigned.
