The Employer Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in the Career Development Center's mission to engage employers in the student career development process by encouraging them to become active participants in experiential learning programs, on-campus recruiting events, and integration with academic learning.
Purpose of Position: Prospect potential employers within Emerson's target industries in the Boston metro area to offer internship and job opportunities to our student and alumni community through job postings and on-campus recruiting. This individual will also maintain and build upon existing relationships.
Your Manager: Assistant Director of Employer Engagement

- Career Development Center Staff
- Academic Department Chairs and faculty members
- Student clubs and organizations
- Recruiters and hiring managers at external
organizations
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Manages Boston metro-area employer relationships and
strengthens current contacts through the development of outreach
and engagement strategies
- Serves as the first-line point of contact for employers with
inquiries regarding internship and job postings, policies as well
as other routine questions
- Organizes campus recruiting programs and encourages active
employer involvement
- Leads employer target research activities to uncover key
recruiting contacts hiring process information
- Builds relationships with faculty to align employer outreach
initiatives with academic learning objectives
- Works closely with the Associate Director of Employer
Engagement, and the Marketing Communication Manager, to develop
strategies promoting Career Development Center events to the campus
community
Your Other Responsibilities:
- Special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of
Employer Engagement
- All other duties as assigned
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 2-4 years of experience in an employer relations role at a
college or university, B2B sales, staffing agency, or corporate
recruiting
- Ability to quickly establish rapport with prospective employers
such as key recruiting contacts, hiring managers, and other
decision-makers at all levels within an organization
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and public
speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven track record in
building relationships
- Demonstrates independent decision making, and problem-solving
skills
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity
You'll be preferred if you have:
- Master's degree in a related field such as marketing, human
resources, or higher education administration
- Prior experience working with college-age students, either
within a higher education setting or campus recruiting for a
private or public organization
- Prior experience working with Handshake, or similar CS
Management software

- Typical office environment
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
Grade of Position: A15E
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
Hiring Range: $52,200.00 - $54,700.00
