Permanent, Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering (IME) at the Florida A&M University (FAMU)-Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering invites applications from highly qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position in Data Science and Machine Learning. We are seeking faculty candidates for an assistant professor position, however, exceptional candidates will be considered for higher ranks.

The IME Department currently has about 19 faculty, 34 PhD students, 106 MS students, 162 undergraduate students, and annual research expenditures exceeding $3.3M. The two universities and outstanding research facilities in the affiliated research buildings/centers provide opportunities for collaboration with faculty in Computer Science, Scientific Computing, Statistics, High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI, https://hpmi.research.fsu.edu ), Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP, https://fcaap.fsu.edu/), the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS, https://www.caps.fsu.edu/), National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL, https://nationalmaglab.org/), and FSU College of Medicine (https://med.fsu.edu/).

PREFERRED AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in industrial engineering, computer science, statistics, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate documented potential for outstanding research. Areas of particular interest include Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and their Applications for Advanced Manufacturing Systems, Scientific Discovery, Healthcare Systems, Service Enterprise, Energy Systems, and Infrastructure Systems. Successful candidates are expected to develop research programs that are internationally recognized with significant and sustained funding, incorporate interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers across campus, and demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and excellence in education. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral researchers are expected. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the barriers preventing full participation of members from historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities in higher education.
