The Department
and role purpose:
The School of
Education is looking for an individual with a passion for research
management to support the exciting research portfolio of the
Evaluation and Innovation in Science Education (EISE) Research
Group and a number of other evaluation projects within the
department. The interdisciplinary EISE group works on a broad range
of projects, usually with more than ten projects running
concurrently. The majority of projects are collaborative, working
with multiple external organisations as well as colleagues across
the university.
As a research manager, you will be
liaising with both academic and professional services staff across
the university as well as with external organisations to manage
multiple aspects of projects including setting up contracts,
facilitating compliance with ethics and GDPR processes,
coordinating the recruitment of project staff and ensuring research
infrastructure is in place across collaborative project teams.
Additionally, you may be involved in the development of data
collection tools, including piloting measures with schools and
gathering input from external stakeholders. You will need to gain a
good level of understanding of each of the projects and to
proactively communicate with group members to keep up to date with
developments across the portfolio of research.
Examples of projects currently being
undertaken by the group include the evaluation of the national
Creativity Collaboratives pilot programme, evaluation of the
national Levelling Up Widening Participation programme,
understanding the impact of COVID-19 on the practical skills of
students transitioning to Higher Education, and the evaluation of
the Parents and Children Together (PACT) programme (Randomised
Controlled Trial). We believe that a diverse range of perspectives
and personal experiences is essential for successful research and
we encourage applications from individuals who can complement the
broad range of skills and specialisms of the EISE Research
Group.
