The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) is seeking an energetic, detail oriented, and collaboration-minded Events and Development Research Assistant to support the School's fundraising office, including but not limited to events support, prospect research, and database management. This is an hourly (part-time) opportunity that will work up to 29 hour per week.



Major responsibilities:

Assist with the planning, development, and execution of academic, donor and alumni events
Coordinate invitations and mailings for donors, alumni and friends of VCUarts
Update and edit information in the VCUarts’ donor database
Conduct individual, institution and corporate prospect research
Utilize InDesign to draft digital and print stewardship materials

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet assigned deadlines
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment
The ability to use MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, InDesign, and Google Suite
Ability to write, edit, and develop stewardship materials for diverse audiences with a critical attention to detail
Sound judgment and the ability to communicate in a professional manner is required to develop relationships and effectively represent VCUarts at events and to a diverse range of donors, prospects, and stakeholders in a complex and inclusive community
Enthusiasm and willingness to work with a diverse team of colleagues in a fast paced environment
Must be able to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Ample notice will be provided for those events
Occasional local travel involving an automobile

Salary Range: $20 - $22
