The Opportunity:

The Human Resources (HR) Team is looking for an HR Partner to Support the leadership initiatives of the Human Resources Department and the Executive Director of Employment & Engagement by assisting with a variety of HR related duties across the Daytona Beach campus with special focus and attention on providing excellent support to the Dean of the COA, and the Chairman of Flight Training. HR duties will consist of employee engagement, recruitment, retention, succession planning, and employee performance. Assist with managing the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Assist with immigration needs of Instructor Pilots.

Responsibilities include the following:

Employment & Engagement - Manage employee relations for the Daytona Beach campus to include - performance management, position descriptions, job changes and promotions, performance improvement plans, developmental opportunities, coordinate and deliver training, coaching, disciplinary actions, exit interviews and terminations. Proactively focus on continuous improvement for departmental and university processes. Actively participate in departmental initiatives with hand-on activities, meeting attendance, research, etc.

Flight - Provide HR support to Flight Training Department, Daytona Beach. Oversee Instructor Pilot and staff recruitment and employee relations. Provide guidance and mentoring to Flight Training Leadership and personnel. Conduct new hire orientations. Assist with management of the CBA for the collective bargaining unit; interpret and administer articles of said contract; consult with collective bargaining unit members, Local 501 Officers, International Business Representatives and Flight Management to resolve labor relations issues and disputes.

Recruiting - Assist with recruiting efforts in the Flight Department at the Daytona Beach campus. Perform background checks, reference checks and drug screening as needed.

Support immigration initiatives for flight department. Verify immigration authorization for compliance with the Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Labor (DOL.) Work with the USCIS, the Department of International Student & Scholar Services and immigration attorneys in securing visas for international applicants and current faculty and staff. Responsible for facilitating prevailing wage determinations, creating offer letters and verification letters to the DOL and the USCIS. Official signature authority on behalf of the university on all forms of visa petitions.

Assist managers with questions pertaining to benefits such as personal leave, disability, payroll, and other routine Human Resources services.


Required licenses, certificates, and /or security clearances:
  • TSA security clearance required for ramp access.
  • HR Certification preferred
Required experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities:

Bachelor's degree and HR experience is required. Excellent communicative and written skills required. Labor and employee relations experience required. Contract negotiations preferred. Knowledge of immigration law as it pertains to USCIS visa procedures required. Recruiting experience required. Must have the capacity to interact with all levels of personnel. Must be able to work autonomously. Analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Programs, to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet/Intranet.
