Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Title IX Officer, the Confidential Administrative Support II (Title IX Analyst) provides case management support and assists with varied complex duties, tasks, and projects involving a full range of policy and administrative issues. The Title IX Analyst is responsible for supporting the implementation of significant aspects of university compliance with California State University (CSU) Executive Orders regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation among employees, students, and third-parties.

The Title IX Analyst facilitates appropriate responses to reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in accordance with the applicable CSU Executive Orders and state and federal laws. Duties include day-to-day case management; communications with parties and witnesses; notetaking during intake and investigation interviews; research; and drafting investigative summaries and reports.

The Title IX Analyst supports the Title IX Officer, Deputy Title IX Officer, and the Title IX Investigators in setting a professional and caring tone in all interactions with the campus community given the sensitive nature of the work and provides general administrative support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Support - Assists with implementation of Title IX programs by monitoring and tracking communications, investigations, deadlines for responses, and overall program compliance indicators.
  • Reporting and Research - Initiate, review, write and edit correspondence and reports, as well as conduct analysis of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provide confidential administrative support to the Title IX Officer and the Title IX Investigators.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state laws regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of human resources and employee relations issues
  • Knowledge of research techniques and statistical methods
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to be impartial and establish rapport with a diverse range of campus community members
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential communications
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population with cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies including staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment on sensitive matters, and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies
  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, collect data, draw conclusions and to effectively present information when responding to questions from internal and external customers
  • Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective, and to conceive of and develop strategic solutions
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information, reason logically and draw conclusions
  • Demonstrated ability to create, compose and edit complex reports, correspondence and create effective presentations
  • Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a timely manner
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional training program specific to the position and directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Three years of administrative work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Professional experience facilitating or administering investigations
  • Title IX Investigator training
  • Knowledge of shared governance, collective bargaining and collegial interaction within a university
  • Knowledge of CSU policies and procedures
  • Ability to interpret, develop and apply policies
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents
  • Paralegal experience and/or training


Compensation

Classification: Confidential Administrative Support II
Salary Range: $4,233/month - $9,514/month

All background checks are conducted through the university's third party vendor, Accurate Background. Some positions may also require fingerprinting. SJSU will pay all costs associated with this procedure. Evidence of required degree(s) or certification(s) will be required at time of hire.
