Job Summary

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent, energetic, well-funded research program in neuroscience, with a focus on translational applications to human or animal health. Preference will be given to those who work in areas of existing strengths within the College, particularly neuro-inflammation/neuro-immunology and neurotrauma. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one or more modules of histology or systemic physiology in veterinary professional programs and in graduate courses. The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor and advisor to undergraduate, professional, and graduate students in research programs.



Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a biological science and relevant postdoctoral experience. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold a D.V.M. (or equivalent) degree. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with a broad range of researchers in one or more entities on the Purdue campus, including the Center for Paralysis within the College of Veterinary Medicine ( ); the Purdue Institute on Integrative Neurosciences (; Purdue University Center for Cancer Research (; and the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery (; as well as take advantage of the vast resources of Purdue’s Discovery Park (



We are particularly interested in candidates who utilize pre-clinical and translational animal models of disease. The ideal applicant will be an investigator with exceptional promise of success in research, a proven record of being able to attract extramural funding and a demonstrated commitment to teaching the next generation of scientists and medical professionals.
