Senior Graduate Admission Counselor

Job Summary

Responsible for recruitment/enrollment initiatives for assigned graduate degrees and certificate programs. Specifically, to contact, inform, advise, and counsel prospective students about graduate studies and Elmhurst University. Positively contributes to new graduate student enrollment goals. Oversees graduate recruitment events. Position is based on campus.

Essential Functions
  • Contact, qualify, and build relationships with prospective graduate students. Share information regarding admission and graduation requirements and sources of funding.
  • Utilize CRM to run queries and track the progress of inquiries and applicants throughout the enrollment process.
  • Generate applications from qualified prospective students following up routinely until admission files are completed and ready for review by the respective graduate program director.
  • Post admission decision, work with admitted students to obtain their tuition deposit and register for courses.
  • Responsible for creating and overseeing all graduate recruitment events, on and off campus, as well as in person and virtual events and conferences.
  • Maintain general knowledge of all graduate degrees and certificate programs offered by the university. Demonstrates specific knowledge of assigned programs and respective employment fields.
  • Assists in the development of training (schedules) and professional development programs for admission staff.
Other Duties and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned by Senior/Associate Directors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years of work experience in higher education admissions. Experience recruiting non-traditional students is preferred.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and exceptional time management skills.
  • Self-starter with a focus on attention to details.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, CRM (slate preferred), and SIS (Ellucian Colleague preferred) systems.
  • Understanding of higher education in particular of private liberal arts institutions and their mission.
  • Must be responsive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment with fluctuating responsibilities and multiple project deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation for off campus events; expenses reimbursed per university policy.
  • Evening and weekend hours as assigned.
