Responsibilities

Short Description of Duties:

• Develops and builds relationships with undergraduate applicants in strong partnership with Admissions Office and other related units.
• Executes strategic communication and outreach plans under the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management.
• Leads student communication teams to create publications, emails, social media, and other media for applicants as well as admitted and current students.
• Creates content, strategies, and the requisite execution pathways required to develop, maintain, and fulfill communication plans for applicants and admitted students.
• Liaises with units both internal and external while representing the Division of Student Affairs on campus-wide committees such as the recruitment teams and retention committees.
• Collaborates with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, Divisional Directors (specifically Admissions, Financial Aid and Career and Professional Development), Advising and Registrar, in addition to Academic Affairs student support services such as, but not limited to, Academic Advising, Center for Academic Resources, Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence, University Studies Program, and others, to create retention strategies and implement student engagement initiatives to keep students involved and maintain successful academic progress.
• Partners with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management to create innovative outreach and conversion strategies for attracting 1st year, transfer, and intra- university transfer students.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to student enrollment and retention for the Division of Student Affairs in collaboration/conjunction with other offices and departments dedicated to student outreach and retention.

Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institution’s mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Collaborates with Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence on outreach and retention activities related to multicultural programs for minority and underrepresented/underserved students.

Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and objectives.

Serves as a liaison by collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups and providing organizational information.

Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program or unit.

Develops and audits the budget.

Will exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.

Responsible for developing programs and services to counsel, advise and provide guidance for students and collaborate with department chairs, faculty and advisors to develop, update and implement targeted interventions to increase student retention and success.

Oversees major division/department-wide programs or projects.

Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative and staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan

Oversees the effective, compliant, & efficient daily management of all operational, financial, & business functions in support of the program/project & in coordination with central offices such as HR, Budget, Facilities, IT, & Provost.

Represents programs/projects on internal & external business affairs & is viewed as an expert resource regarding operations of the Student Outreach and Retention unit.

Develops, maintains & reports on quantitative and qualitative performance measures.

Directs programs/projects marketing/branding efforts.

Identifies opportunities and strategies for short- and long-term growth & expansion.

Oversees development & implementation of evaluation processes, quantitative & qualitative measurements that ensure that unit benchmarks are successfully attained and communicated in a timely and efficient manner.

Manages evaluation processes; recommends & implements changes for enhancement; monitors effectiveness.

Creates & leads a coordinated program of activities designed to increase the units objectives.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

A master's degree in public health, counseling, social work, student services, higher education administration, gender studies or related field OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

At least 3 years of professional experience in higher education or related field.

At least 4 years program/project administration or other relevant experience.

Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and with integrity.

Ability to use sound judgment when responding to crises.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders on- and off- campus.

Strong digital skills and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.

Strong analytical skills including analysis and reporting.
