The Joseph Moore Museum (JMM) at Earlham College seeks a part-time (23-29 hours/week, 12 months/year) qualified, creative, and dynamic Museum Outreach and Communications Assistant (MOCA) for immediate hire. This position is 2 years, grant-funded. The MOCA is a key member of the outreach and marketing teams. As part of the marketing team, the candidate will assist trained marketing team students with creating content for our social media outlets, creating print advertisements for campus/community, and monitoring our social media pages. This position will have required evening and weekend hours.

The JMM is a dynamic college museum focused on forging meaningful connections among community members and supporting exploration and application of scholarly knowledge to topics of importance to society. Our museum is largely student-run; faculty provide support, training, and mentorship for students who are learning to be tour leaders, exhibit developers, researchers and collections specialists. We strive to create engaging community programs and exhibits that combine the strengths of our college’s natural history and ethnographic collections, planetarium, scholarly research of Earlham College faculty, and the passions of our three museum faculty and ~40 undergraduate student staff. The MOCA works under the direction of the Education Lead and Museum Director.

Earlham College

Founded in 1847, Earlham College is a nationally-ranked liberal arts college that aspires to change lives for good. Our community is shaped by the perspectives and values of the Religious Society of Friends—commonly known as Quakers—but you don’t have to be Quaker to work or study here. (In fact, most of us aren’t!) Instead, our community comes together around our shared Principles and Practices: respect for persons, integrity, peace and justice, simplicity, and community. Through our common understanding of these values and our shared governance structure, each member of the Earlham community is encouraged to participate fully, applying their personal expertise and experience to moving the College forward.

Earlham welcomes a broadly diverse student body, faculty and staff to its campus.

With a quarter of our students identifying as domestic minorities and another 20 percent coming to Earlham from homes outside the United States, our classrooms, clubs and activities benefit from the wide variety of perspectives and experiences our students bring.

Our 800-acre campus is nestled in the heart of Richmond, Indiana. Richmond and Earlham share a mutually beneficial connection, and our location allows for the best of both worlds—big city amenities aren’t far away, and outdoor activities abound.
