Job Summary:Admissions Counselors serve in a recruitment and admissions role and are responsible for assisting non-traditional students, in various student stages, throughout the admissions process to the point of admission to Columbia College. There is a heavy focus on leads converted to admitted students. Enrollment Counselors serve on the front line for all forms of outreach to incoming prospects and applicants.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College’s vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of the Recruiting & Admissions Department.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for non-traditional undergraduate and graduate prospective students. This includes; first-time freshman, transfer students, non-degree seeking students, and readmit students (both domestic & international).
  • Provide counsel for prospective students and applicants by utilizing various methods of communication (webchat, email, text, phone, etc.). Maintain appropriate follow-up communication with these students in regards to degree program offerings, application status, and basic financial aid information.
  • Manage a large amount of inbound and outbound calls in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Read, understand, and communicate college policies and procedures.
  • Understand and manage job expectations. This includes, but is not limited to the following: courteous and professional attitude towards prospective students, fellow team members and the leadership team, student phase conversion rates, daily volume requirements (calls, webchats, text messages, and emails
  • Acknowledge, communicate, and resolve problems by clarifying issues, researching and exploring answers, implementing solutions, and escalating unresolved problems.
  • Continually improve communication, sales, and counseling skills through training, quality assurance sessions, and call shadowing while accepting and incorporating feedback and direction from supervisor(s).
  • Commit to working rotating hours as necessary to provide consistent service to prospects and students, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Enhance the organization’s reputation by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Attend work timely and during the established hours of operation on a regular basis; work additional hours as business necessitates.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in related field
  • Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
  • Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
  • Accurate data entry and typing skills of >40 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Special Requirements:
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required
