Director - Faculty Development

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
This position is responsible for faculty development functions within Academic Affairs. Responsibilities include creating meaningful faculty development opportunities for the purpose of achieving the institution's goal of exceptional care, exceptional accountability, and exceptional results. The individual collaborates across Academic Affairs, including academic departments, People and Culture, Digital Transformation, and other branches of administration to support full-time and part-time faculty members' efforts to develop their careers and personal interests, develop networks, and communicating across the institution and service area, mentoring colleagues, pursuing leadership opportunities, and monitoring the Faculty Development budget. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in a related discipline plus minimum two years of relevant staff level experience.

  • Trends in programming and activities that promote continuous career development, productivity, and recognition.
  • Empirically-based practices and innovative technologies to advance faculty career development, including for under-represented faculty, and support for UVU’s teaching-first mission.
  • Strategic planning in higher education or other non-profit organizations.
  • Understanding of change-management and growth-mindset leadership theories relevant to higher education or other non-profit organizations.


Skills:
  • Program planning and management skills.
  • Public relations, social media, and marketing skills.
  • Flexibility and creativity skills with ability to adjust to growth and shift priorities as needed.
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently on a complex, multi-task level, solve problems, and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to listen and respond to various stakeholders to support needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate with people of diverse thoughts and backgrounds.
  • Experience in professional development program design and administration.

Work is performed in a normal office/teaching environment.

Pay Range: $56,842 - $71,053
