Summary:
The Engineering Department at Utah Valley University invites applications for a Tenure Track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin Spring 2022 or Fall 2022. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's and Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a closely related field and is expected to teach undergraduate electrical engineering courses.

The candidate will teach students to understand and appreciate electrical engineering topics by designing courses and preparing instructional materials, cultivating a student-centered learning environment, and help students succeed. They will apply teaching assessment results to improve courses, curriculum, and teaching effectiveness.Additionally, they will support the department, university, and community through service such as committees and special projects; fully support the university and program-level accreditation efforts; and engage in scholarly activities, including research and keeping current in the latest developments in the field. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering or related disciplines. ABD accepted; Ph.D. must be in hand by January 3, 2022. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge in one or more of the following fields: power systems, parallel and distributed systems, mobile systems, control systems, electromagnetic and transgression lines, embedded systems, neutral networks, communication systems, VLSI design, digital signal processing, electronics, networking and security, image processing, robotics, programming languages (C, Matlab, VHDL, Verilog, C++, Java, etc.), and computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, student management, motivation, evaluation and assessment of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation, current trends in technical education, cooperative work experience programs, and student recruitment.
  • Knowledge and experience with supervision of undergraduate or industrial research projects.
  • Skills in interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making.
  • Skills in presentation of course materials and learning experiences.
  • Expertise in teaching subjects related to general electrical and computer engineering topics.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to deal with the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing and changing institution.
  • Experience in developing and teaching courses.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preference goes to applicants with practical experience and who are already licensed engineers.

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include frequent standing, sitting, grasping, and fine hand manipulation with continual talking hearing, and seeing. May be required to lift up to 10 lbs.
