Endpoint Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:

Primary responsibilities include designing, configuring and maintaining computing endpoint configuration and images as well as telephony infrastructure. Candidates will work closely with the System Administrators, Information Security, and Endpoint Technicians on endpoint configuration using the relevant management tools including; active directory, SCCM, JAMF and Chrome Management Console. Further utilizing these tools to deploy applications, updates, patches and configuration changes to endpoints.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Endpoint, AV, & Telecommunications

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  1. Design and build computing endpoint images. Automate the major steps in configuring new endpoints to ensure consistency.
  2. Leverage Microsoft Active Directory memberships for applying the appropriate group policies user and endpoint roles for windows devices. Utilize in house MDM to manage mobile assets.
  3. Keep up to date on software updates, patches and versions. Analyze the environment and apply updates as required.
  4. Keep up to date on emerging endpoint vulnerabilities and work with the relevant teams to lead remediation.
  5. Perform endpoint monitoring and provide reports as required.
  6. Deliver projects and updates as agreed in accordance with the endpoint management group.
  7. Trace network runs and patch network cables to pre-configured switches ensuring that they are connected to the correct network segment, as well as maintaining daily moves, adds, and changes on the University's endpoints, and telephony systems.
  8. Recommend endpoint specifications for standard computing and specialized needs.
  9. Ensure software license compliance of all software installed on university endpoints by keeping track of software license keys, and installers.
  10. Record and Respond to calls and written work orders from the Customer Services department in a timely fashion related to Endpoint, Telecommunications, and multimedia system issues. Updating and completing work tickets as work progresses.
  11. Interact with vendors and other internal University departments. (Repair services, spare parts or contracted maintenance providers, shippers and research new products).
  12. Maintain a basic set of tools provided by the university. Each technician is also required to carry a two-way radio.
  13. Mentor and train student workers in their professional growth and partners in the workplace.
  14. Make proactive recommendations to resolve recurring problems and customer needs. Keep up to date on emerging technologies and trends that will bring enhancements to the university's IT infrastructure in support of IT's strategic objectives.
  15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
  1. Knowledge of Active Directory Architecture and Group Policy.
  2. Understanding of Project Management methodology.
  3. Strong leadership and communication skills are required for working with other teams to design solutions to complex problems.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work systematically.
  5. Good overall knowledge of operating systems and how software interacts with them.
  6. Experience with iOS, Android and Chrome OS is preferred.
  7. Experience creating clear concise technical documentation.
  8. Self-starter with high energy and drive to meet the needs of the University.
  9. Ability to define, prioritize problems, collect data, establish facts, and render valid solutions.
  10. Ability to prioritize workload and pay attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to move all Endpoint equipment up to 50 Lbs, such as CPU, monitors telephone etc. and place and install them to a desktop level.
  2. Navigation of stairs involved in many deliveries.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Bachelor's degree preferred or two plus years relevant work experience, which must include deploying software and updates to a large number of computers.
  2. Two plus years of experience working with Platform Management and other imaging/deployment technologies.
  3. A+, Net+, MCITP and/or Apple Certifications are a plus but not required depending on prior work experience.
