Assistant Director for Housing Services

Primary Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Director Residential Life, Housing Services provides leadership and development for 1-2 Full-Time Administrative Support professional and 1-2 ACUHO-I Summer Graduate Interns. Additionally, the Assistant Director serves on the central leadership team in a department that houses over 3,000 students. The Assistant Director provides departmental leadership in marketing, recruiting and assigning of students in the residence halls. The Assistant Director supports the educational and programmatic aspects of a residential community through ongoing student development and education of Housing Services' policies and procedures. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the overall operation of summer camps and conferences. The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director for Residential Life.

Minimum Education/Experience:
  • Completion of a Master’s Degree in student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in residence hall administration


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and application of student development theory in a residence hall setting
  • Experience working autonomously and the ability to exercise excellent judgement
  • Desire to work with and address the needs of a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities
  • Experience as a live-in staff member
  • Experience developing departmental processes and project coordination
  • Experience with RMS Mercury and Banner
  • Experience supervising full-time, Master’s level professional staff
  • Familiarity with Maxient Student Conduct
