Scope of Job:
Conduct research, teach and mentor graduate students in the Ph.D. Program in Human Genetics, and participate in undergraduate medical education of medical students. The Department of Human Genetics is seeking an Associate or Full Professor of Human Genetics (Tenure Track/Tenured) with expertise in the area of imaging genomics with an emphasis in structural and functional brain imaging. The successful applicant will have a strong publication record in brain-related imaging genomics and experience in large-scale epidemiological collections of imaging phenotypes. Additional experience in large-scale parallel computation is also preferred. This position will help lead our new Imaging Genomics center that will have a research dedicated state-of-the-science 3T MRI machine for subject phenotype collection. Prior experience with NIH funded grants is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a competitively funded research program and to take part in our Human Genetics Ph.D. program. The successful candidate will also be expected to take part in large scale team science projects focused on our existing longitudinal human population cohorts. Interest and knowledge of imaging-derived neuropsychiatric and neurological disease endophenotypes is preferred. This position will be based at our campus in Brownsville, Texas.

History of funding for research program, active research funding, experience with imaging derived neuropsychiatric and neurological disease endophenotypes.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
