Pace University’s College of Health Professions is seeking a Full-time Tenure Track Faculty Member to join our faculty as Chair of the Department of Health Science at either the New York City or Westchester Campus located in Pleasantville NY.

The Chair of the Health Science department is a full-time, tenure-eligible appointment. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Allied Health Programs. We are seeking a creative leader to champion the development of new interdiscliplinary graduate-level programs, accelerated programs, and to oversee our growing Bachelor of Health Science degree. This includes curriculum development and implementation, budget management, policy development and implementation, assessment and quality improvement initiatives, faculty and staff leadership, and student recruitment and retention activities.

Minimum Qualifications
The Chair of the Health Science department must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:

  • Research doctorate in a health science related field 
  • At least three or more years of professional experience in higher education administration; at least three years of documented successful full-time experience related to teaching in an academic setting, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation
  • Willingness to lead both graduate and undergraduate programs in a multi-campus institution
  • An active research program in any health science or related field such as public health, clinical science, health informatics, social science, behavioral health etc.

The candidate must be qualified for appointment at the associate or full professor rank and be tenure eligible.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Working with faculty to develop new graduate programs and guide them through the appropriate internal and external approval processes including where appropriate accreditation application
  • Setting annual program goals and evaluating outcomes
  • Onboarding and mentoring new faculty
  • Facilitating faculty role development in teaching and scholarship, and supporting their service role, including engagement in professional activities
  • Collaborating with faculty to ensure quality programs and outcomes
  • Leading curriculum reviews of the programs to determine and meet success metrics for students, including retention
  • Addressing student concerns and conducting grade appeals
  • Developing annual teaching schedules for faculty
  • Conducting annual faculty and staff performance reviews
  • Facilitating student recruitment and conversion events for robust enrollments in all programs
  • Working with the Assistant Dean for Finance and Human Resources to plan and manage the academic area budgets
  • Working with the Associate Dean for Administration and Office of Planning, Assessment and Institutional Research for internal and external reporting activities, for example, accreditation reports
  • Representing the Dean at internal and external meetings, as needed
  • Teaching health science courses in undergraduate and graduate degree programs as appropriate to one’s field of expertise
  • Maintaining an active research program, publishing research papers, and seeking research funding
  • Supporting capstone projects, mentored research and innovative experiential learning opportunities

Established in 2010, the College of Health Professions at Pace University offers a broad range of programs at the bachelor, master, and doctoral levels.
