Associate Director, Advising

Job Summary:
This is a 40 hour per week, salaried position. Assists with the supervision of staff on all daily activities and operations of the Advising Office. Participates in evaluating, re-designing and implementing new methodologies relating to Advising practices and procedures. Provides pro-active academic and career advising to assigned caseload. Provides a student-centered approach and helps lead a team where student service is imperative for departmental success.

Essential Functions:
1. Provides support to the Director, Advising, for Advising-related career and retention software2. Hires, trains and supervises advising work-study students3. Maintains an active student advising load and collaborates with faculty in assigned advising areas4. Responsible for end of semester Advising-related reporting and processes5. Serves as Ombudsperson for code of conduct violations (non-Title IX)6. Manages non-academic student complaints and documentation7. Serves on the BIT team8. Serves on internal and external committees at the request of the Director of Advising9. Maintains internal and external Advising documents10. Maintains internal and external Advising sites11. In the absence of the Director, Advising, has responsibility for the overall operations of the office. 12. Serves as primary contact for 4-year partners/transfer liaison to establish trainings, campus visits or advising sessions13. Assists with and coordinates staff and faculty Advising training 14. Keeps abreast of Advising best practices

Other Duties:
1. Performs other duties as assigned

Accountabilities:
Under the limited supervision of the Director of Advising, the Associate Director, Advising ensures the integrity of the advising office. Monitors student progress. Promotes student success through Guided Pathways and a positive image of the department and the College.

Job Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Commitment to student recruitment, retention, and success. Ability to work with and mentor student workers. Demonstrated ability to create a warm, welcoming environment for students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members, especially during busy and chaotic times. Demonstrated use of tact, judgment, and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity. Commitment to the community college mission.
