Department Summary
University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.
This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Clinical Services will report to and collaborate closely with the Medical Director and is responsible for the delivery of nursing and medical assistant functions within the University Health Services (UHS). This position is responsible for collaborative planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operational functions of staff within the clinical services department at the direction of the Medical Director. This includes responsibility for all aspects of supervision and evaluation of clinical nursing and medical assistant care and services, establishing, implementing and evaluating goals and objectives, quality improvement and other program activities for clinical services, and compliance with federal/state/local public health and other statutes that meet and promote the standards of care in support of the UHS's mission and vision. This position is responsible for administering direct supervision of licensed and non-licensed staff, strategic planning and assessment. This position will closely collaborate with the Medical Director, lead providers and nurses, and the manager of patient services. Position supervises the nursing and medical assistant staff.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing OR
- Associate's Degree with a Bachelors of Science Degree in a
health-related field OR
- An equivalent combination of training, education, and
experience
In addition to the above, candidates must also meet the following qualifications: - Current Oregon License as a Registered Nurse or Nurse
Practitioner, or ability to obtain by the agreed upon start date of
employment
- Three years of recent experience in a nurse or nurse
practitioner leadership position within an outpatient primary
and/or specialty care setting
- Three years of recent experience as a clinical nurse or nurse
practitioner within an outpatient primary and/or specialty care
setting
- Three years of recent experience in personnel management which
includes performance evaluations, recruitment and selection, staff
development and training, and progressive discipline
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification, or
ability to obtain by the agreed upon start date of
employment
- Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working
effectively with students, parents, faculty and staff from diverse
backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming
environment
Special Qualifications: - Position requires successful completion of a criminal
background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare
Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on
the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System
of Award Management (SAM).
- Must be in compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis
screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and
other immunization requirements.

- Proven ability to build and lead a team that promotes high

- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, diverse,
multi-disciplinary clinical environment with medical, nursing,
medical assisting, ancillary, technical, administrative, other
professional support staff, and patients.
- Demonstrated practices of teamwork, respect, integrity,
innovation and ongoing commitment to promote a welcoming,
inclusive, and accessible health care environment.
- Ability to independently prioritize and multi-task in a
fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Outlook (or similar software).
- Demonstrated proficiency working in and managing health
information technologies, including an electronic health record
(EHR) and practice management software environment.
- Ability to model the highest ethical standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare management
Preferred Qualifications - Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management
- Experience working in a college health care setting
- Experience supervising in a unionized environment
- Experience working in an accredited health care
organization
- Experience collaborating with Information Technology to
maintain and improve an electronic health record and other health
related information technologies
