Hiring Department

The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry is seeking a part time Research Assistant or Research Aide.

Job Description

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage mouse colony (setting up breeding pairs, weaning, and sexing pups, weighing mice, microchipping, retiring of mouse colonies, etc.).
  • Perform genotyping for various mouse lines
  • Write technical reports and maintain detailed laboratory notebook
  • Assist with tissue collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, collecting, and analyzing the data
  • Other general lab duties could be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree required to qualifiy as a Research Assistant

Students currently enrolled in undergraduate biology/chemistry majors, or related field, may qualify as a Research Aide

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Molecular, Biology or related fields
  • Preference with previous handling of mice
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, high attention to detail, and great communication skills
Full Time/Part Time

Part-time, 60% FTE (average of 20-25 hours per week), non-benefit-eligible, unranked, non-tenure track, academic position.

Salary

$15.00 to $19.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Shift

Daily work schedule is flexible and negotiable (Preferably 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday).
