Hiring Department
The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry is seeking a part time Research Assistant or Research Aide.
Job Description
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage mouse colony (setting up breeding pairs, weaning, and sexing pups, weighing mice, microchipping, retiring of mouse colonies, etc.).
- Perform genotyping for various mouse lines
- Write technical reports and maintain detailed laboratory notebook
- Assist with tissue collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, collecting, and analyzing the data
- Other general lab duties could be assigned.
A bachelor’s degree required to qualifiy as a Research Assistant
Students currently enrolled in undergraduate biology/chemistry majors, or related field, may qualify as a Research Aide
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Molecular, Biology or related fields
- Preference with previous handling of mice
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, high attention to detail, and great communication skills
Part-time, 60% FTE (average of 20-25 hours per week), non-benefit-eligible, unranked, non-tenure track, academic position.
Salary
$15.00 to $19.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Shift
Daily work schedule is flexible and negotiable (Preferably 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday).
