POSITION SUMMARY: The Fisk Fitness Center Graduate Student Attendant’s primary responsibilities include consistent monitoring of the Fisk Fitness Center card swipe system, and the proper utilization and cleanliness of fitness equipment. Including machine weights, free weights, and other fitness items. The ideal Fitness Center attendants should be organized, dependable, and personable. Attendants are representation of the Fitness Center Manager when they are not within the center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform proper student check-in/out in the Fitness Center using Card swipe System
- Monitor and clean equipment
- Monitor student conduct (according to Student Code of Conduct)
- Assist with fitness activities. Be able to assist someone in proper use of fitness equipment
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Report any supply/ equipment needs or student conduct issues to the supervisor
- Must attend monthly student staff meetings with the supervisor and regularly communicate with other work study students and the supervisor
- Enforce any Covid-19 policy that is in affect at that current time
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic understanding of weight room procedures preferred
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Supervising work-study students, or volunteers within the Fitness Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Able to work independently
- Personable, good fit for position

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education: Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Fisk University.
Experience: None required.
Licenses or Certificates: None required.
