Job Description



PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

T he Specialist II, Student Support provide s transcript evaluations and assist s students with other areas of the application/registration process. R egister s /drop s students from courses; update s student program plans; assist s graduation specialist with degree audits and graduation tracking/processing and assist s health occupation department during their various application periods. A ssist s with state reporting queries. The Specialist II is t he first point of contact to students and provide them with information on admissions. H elp s students fill out and complete admission applications and ensure s the student is directed to the proper advisor that is specific to their needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Receive transcripts by mail, electronic delivery, or in person and process evaluation
  • Assist with degree audits for students who have applied for graduation
  • Run advisement reports and update student information within graduation tracking
  • Register and drop students from courses; update student program plans as requested
  • Run various queries for state reporting and audit student accounts to update information and clear queries for purposes of state reporting
  • Provide backup to student services front desk by assistance with student questions regarding account holds, transfer credit inquiries, registration issues, etc.
  • Provide assistance to health occupations departments throughout the various application sessions for nursing, dental hygiene, OTA with transcript and testing transfer questions, program requirement issues and student account information
  • Analyze student information
  • Complete routine administrative work such as filing and picking up mail
  • Scan transcripts and other sensitive information
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :
    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in an internal office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    Salary

    Hiring salary range is $30,000-$34,500.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
