Assistant Professor of Finance

Position Description: The Department of Finance at Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct high-quality research that leads to publications in leading academic journals in the field of finance; Teach 16 credit hours (onsite, off-site and online) finance courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the doctoral level; Provide service to the University, profession and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A Ph.D. degree in Finance or other closely related discipline from an AACSB-accredited university by July 1, 2022 for appointment as Assistant Professor; applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABDs) may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor.
  2. Evidence of a vibrant research stream and potential to publish peer-reviewed academic journal articles in the field of finance.
  3. Evidence of successful teaching experience in the Finance field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A research record demonstrating impact on the candidate’s field, and a pipeline of scholarly work that promises continued impact.
  2. Demonstrated strong commitment to excellence in teaching in multiple areas of finance, including derivatives, at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  3. The ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
  4. Industry experience or professional certification such as CFA, CFP, CPA, FRM, is a plus.

Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable assistant professor positions at peer institutions and commensurate with qualifications.

The Finance department has 8 full-time faculty members and offers coursework at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The department is housed within the Monte Ahuja College of Business. The college employs 70 full-time faculty members. Enrollment exceeds 2,800 students, and the degrees offered include BBA, BA, BSCIS, MBA, MAcc, MCIS, MLRHR, DBA, and a joint MBA-JD. All programs are AACSB accredited.

Cleveland State University is an urban institution located in the City of Cleveland, Ohio. With an enrollment of approximately 15,500 students, it is located within walking distance of the Cleveland downtown business and entertainment centers.
