The Opportunity:

The Graphic Designer will assist with the daily activities supporting the university’s creative strategy team. Under creative direction and using established visual identity guidelines, the graphic designer will assist in the development and execution of university marketing collateral, with a strong focus on philanthropy initiatives. Examples include donor campaigns, direct mail solicitations, email campaigns, event design, newsletters, publications, stewardship, crowdfunding and social media.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Design and/or make content modifications for a variety of marketing collateral and others as assigned by the Director of Creative Strategy & Brand Management
  • Demonstrate strong ability to collaborate with clients, copywriters, and graphic design team to execute designs and adhere to university brand, based on direction provided by the Creative Director
  • Prepare accurate and efficient design files for prepress and printing. Attend press checks as necessary to maintain quality control and ensure materials are printed correctly and timely to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in weekly creative meetings and 1:1 to discuss performance or project intake
  • Ability to receive feedback on creative work
  • Maintain project status using department's project management software
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Graphic Arts, Advertising, Design, Marketing, or other related field with 3+ year's experience
  • Preferred experience working with Higher Ed Philanthropy and Communications departments; agency experience a plus
  • Computer fluency in Mac
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in Canva a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of typography and hierarchy
  • Strong ability to transform requirements into design
  • Proficient in multi-page layout
  • An innate understanding of design principles and a meticulous eye for detail
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a creative team
  • Strong ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously with demanding deadlines
