Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (Electrical)


The Engineering Technology Department at SUNY Buffalo State seeks candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Electrical Engineering Technology program.  The successful candidate is expected to have substantial experience constituting significant performance in professional practice and to demonstrate a commitment to the enrichment of undergraduate experience with practical application, both in the classroom and through the guidance of senior projects.  Areas of teaching and program support include the development and delivery of renewable energy curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate level and the provision of mentorship to the diverse population of students in the program. 

The successful candidate will also be expected to be a collegial member of the faculty team, to collaborate with regional industry focusing on local power and energy companies, to share applied research activities with undergraduate students, and to provide service to our institution. 

Required Qualifications:


Earned Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or relevant field; Degree conferral must be on or before 8/31/2022.

Substantial industrial (or related) experience demonstrating significant responsibilities and accomplishments in design or industrial-related and/or supervisory positions. 

Ability to teach courses in electric machines, power electronics, power systems, and renewable energy. 

Possess versatility to teach in multiple areas of electrical engineering technology. 

Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively in oral, written, and digital forms. 

Possess interpersonal skills to engage students from a variety of social and educational backgrounds in classroom and laboratory settings. 

Record of scholarly accomplishments which can include publications at peer-review journals and conference proceedings, patent and patent applications, technical reports, among others.  


Preferred Qualifications:


Professional Engineering License 

Demonstrated teaching expertise in academic or industrial settings.
