The Health Education and Behavior Department in the University of Florida’s College of Health and Human Performance (HHP) invites applications for a nine-month non-tenure-accruing lecturer to begin August 16, 2022. This appointment, renewable annually, has the opportunity for promotion to senior lecturer. We seek an accomplished colleague who is:

• Committed to their role as a teacher and mentor to undergraduate and masters’ students.
• An innovative educator with the passion and enthusiasm to teach the next generation of health educators to make impactful economic, cultural, and societal contributions to promote health.
• Well-versed in contemporary science and practice in health education and behavior to guide students to build distinctive and competitive portfolios in preparation for their careers.
• Comfortable teaching up to four courses a semester (fall and spring) in a combination of environments that entail both physical classrooms and online learning.
• Involved in service and governance at the department, college, and university levels.

The primary position responsibility is teaching required and elective courses in health education and behavior at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The teaching component of the position will include both residential and online courses with an expected maximum teaching assignment of four courses per semester, or equivalent assignments of effort in teaching, service, or research. Involvement in service and governance at the department, college, and university levels is also expected. Successful applicants will be given opportunities and time to expand the breadth of their teaching experience and to develop new coursework and educational programs and duties may vary.

About the Health Education and Behavior Department and the College of Health and Human Performance

The Department of Health Education and Behavior ( HEB ) is one of four departments in the College of Health and Human Performance (HHP). With 22 full-time faculty members, HEB currently enrolls close to 600 students, of which 25% are enrolled in online degree programs. HEB undergraduate majors make up 88% of enrollment and masters’ students at 10% and Ph.D. students at 2%. The majority of HEB students are Florida residents (88%) and HEB students are racially and ethnically diverse (48%). The HEB student pass rate for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) Exam is 92%, which is 24% higher than the national average.

Across HHP, student enrollment totals more than 2,800, with 13 on-campus and 10 online programs.
