Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional level Advanced Linux System Administrator to join the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team within UFIT.

Competitive candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn with outstanding communication skills. You will lead medium to large projects and coordinate teams responsible for maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise-wide infrastructure and software systems.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
  • Linux Administration of Enterprise Applications
  • PeopleSoft maintenance and administration
  • Scripting and automation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, etc.
  • Large scale Linux administration
  • Assist Linux Platform Team in architecture and implementation
  • Provide leadership, advice, and recommendations on enterprise systems administration and management technologies
  • Mentor and cultivate talent in fellow staff members

Expected Salary:

$90,000 – $105,000; commensurate based on education and experience. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package. https://benefits.hr.ufl.edu/

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:
  • Expertise in Installation, Architecture/Design, and Management of Enterprise Application Infrastructure in large-scale environments using on-premises and cloud deployments.
  • Proficiency with automation, scripting, and configuration management systems such as: Puppet, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, and Python.
  • Ability to configure load balancer appliances, policies, and virtual server load balancing
  • Experience with large scale Linux System management with the ability to perform in-depth troubleshooting
  • Expertise with orchestration tools such as Terraform
  • Proficient with monitoring systems experience such as: Nagios, Zabbix
